The 2017 Cary Scavenger Hunt Rules
These rules apply to all team categories:
- Adult Teams: All members must be 18 years or older.
- Family Teams: Must have at least one member of the team over the age of 18, and team members must be related. This is the only team category in which children under age 18 may compete.
- Corporate Teams: Must all be 18 years or older and must have employees from company which they represent.
The driver for all teams must have proof of automobile insurance that remains in your possession during the Hunt.
CaryCitizen and the organizers of the Hunt will not be held responsible for traffic accidents, tickets or other occurrences that take place during the event off-site of Page-Walker Arts & History Center. Teams are responsible for their own actions!
Acquisition of Items
All items and answers on the list can be found and obtained legally. The judges and CaryCitizen take no responsibility for your team members getting thrown in the local clink, state clink, or federal click. If you end up there, it’s your own fault.
All team members must stay together during the entire hunt. Separating is considered cheating, and if other teams report this, you will be disqualified. STAY TOGETHER! Most team photos (of which there are 40) require it!
All team members must be wearing their Cary Scavenger Hunt t-shirts throughout the day. Team photos require it.
Sabotage is bad. Cheating will not be tolerated. No sharing answers with other teams. Phoning for outside help is prohibited. Only people wearing Hunt t-shirts will be given items. These actions can lead to team disqualification.
All Teams must have a smart phone to log answers.
All clue answers and photos must be submitted in the Cary Scavenger Hunt app. At least 1 phone must have the app, a user name and a password to upload answers. All answers must be entered by 1:30pm. The answer portal will close at that time. All answers must be loaded before your team returns to the finish area. If you cannot get the app to load- we can HELP! Your scoring will take longer and be conducted manually, but it can be done.
Points are final. If there is a tie, a tiebreaker will take place between teams with the same score. If you have a question or a challenge, please do that while remaining in the judging room and take this matter up with the chief judge. All judge rulings are final!
Scavenger Hunt Photos
All photos that request a “team photo”, must include all team members wearing Hunt t-shirts. Any photos taken during the Hunt may be used for promotional material in the future.
Teams will be asked to sign an agreement at morning check-in to verify they have read and agree to the above rules.
Best of luck!
