Cary, NC- For the fifth year in a row, CaryCitizen brings to town the Cary Scavenger Hunt, to be held on Saturday, September 13 at the historic Page-Walker Arts & History Center.

But First, What Is It?

The Cary Scavenger Hunt is an adventure in your own backyard. In Cary , that is. Well, there’s a few clues in Morrisville too.

Teams  of four will compete to see who can figure out the answers to our cluebook questions and come back bringing home the most points.

What Kinds of Questions?

Glad you asked.

  1. They may need to find a mural and tell us its name.
  2. Teams may climb a wall and have a photo to prove it.
  3. Maybe there’s an item that must be brought back as proof of the journey.

Participants will learn about public art, locally owned businesses, parks, greenways, entertainment venues and history. Its also been called a good team-bonding event.

We are excited to once again partner with the Town of Cary as our hosting sponsor, and Atlantic Tire and Service  the presenting sponsor, who is providing an outstanding surprise (we’ll get to that later).

More of Everything

Last year, despite the threat of inclement weather, which forced a late move indoors to the Cary Town Hall, our teams had a spectacular time. We intend to make 2014 even better. More activities, more prizes, and more food!

The more registrations we receive, the more cash for our winners. Last year, each winning team won giant trophies stuffed with cash (at least $250 each). If we hit 100 teams, we will double that.

But even better we will have some serious random raffle prize drawings during the day, including our grand raffle prize of 4 Michelin Tires from Atlantic Tire and Service !

There’s even a loser prize for the team with the absolute lowest score.

Live Electronic Scoring

New this year will be live scoring. Teams have asked us if we could post scores live during the event. Many wanted to see how they performed compared to the field of competitors. Our system is still in the works, but it is our intent to have an electronic board displaying scores, and a live social media stream that broadcasts what folks are posting to twitter and other social media during the day. Possibly some live video from inside the inner sanctum of the judging room.

Discount Codes

If you have played with us before, watch for a special email including a discount code to this year’s registration site . We are also creating promo codes for Heart of Cary Association members and Town of Cary staff. Membership does have its privileges! It is wise to sign-up before September to guarantee your team will have T-shirts to wear, they are required for any team photos taken during the day. And heck- they look cool!

Books aren’t available until 9:30 am on the day of the event. After that, they are great souvenirs. We sometimes repeat particularly hard clues from year to year. If you’ve played, you might know those answers.
